Bedroom furniture has been with since thousands years ago. Today people can find them in many beautiful types of styles including traditional, antique and contemporary. Contemporary bedroom furniture is very well known to help people to establish modern home design. It has an interesting history of evolvement that is important to be known by antique collectors, auction dealers as well as those that appreciate fine furniture.
We can trace back the history of contemporary bedroom furniture from the eighteen century when the bedroom would consist of a bed along with footstool to climb onto the bed. Other items are a dressing table, a high wardrobe and copper coal-heated warming pan. Due to the lack of plumbing there would be washing bowl, a water closet that could be a porcelain jug and also a secreted chamber.
In the eighteenth century, the spittoons were thought to be most sanitary and were part of life. They are used to be a place to spit phlegm because at that time many people suffered from the phlegm because of tuberculosis, tobacco chewing, bronchitis or pneumonia. Like today’s contemporary bedroom furniture, dressing tables were usually also made of hard wood equipped with numerous small drawers to store things that most bathrooms would store today.
